| The
power that Pamela's singing has to move an audience owes a lot to the acting
experience which shaped her career. Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in
Theatre, Pamela went on to train at the American Conservatory Theatre and
the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. After several years as an
actress in New York, Pamela based herself in Europe. The wide-ranging appeal
of her talent has taken her on a musical odyssey around the world.Pamela
has conducted vocal workshops and taught master classes at the Christchurch
Jazz School (New Zealand), the Actors Centre in Sydney and created the Jazz
Vocal Performance course at the Access Centre of the Sydney Conservatorium
of Music. Pamela has recently completed a professional vocal training course
with Linda Wise, Enrique Pardo and Elizabeth Mayer of the Pan Theatre Company
of Paris based on the work of Roy Hart.

Through individual coaching and group work, singers will learn within the context of a workshop which will include rehearsing with either a solo jazz pianist, or jazz pianist and bass player. Using jazz standards students will learn the basics of:

The aim of this course is to provide singers with awareness and experience to give them a firm base from which to work. This approach involves introducing natural voice production, basic acting techniques, movement and body work. Everyone has a wide vocal range and a unique natural sound which, given the right circumstances and tools, can be developed to serve as a vehicle for authenticity and the widest possible range of emotional expression. Appreciate and expand all shades and textures of your own natural sound, and learn to have fun singing jazz ! |
