About Pamela

International Jazz singer, M.A. in voice and movement - experienced voice teacher, and movement therapist. Producer, co-composer, and recording artist with experience collaborating with Pulitzer Prize winning poet, Yusef Komunyakaa to create original performance piece and CD, Thirteen Kinds of Desire.

The power that Pamela's singing has to move an audience owes a lot to the acting experience which shaped her career. Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, Pamela went on to train at the American Conservatory Theatre and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

After several years as an actress in New York, Pamela based herself in Europe. The wide-ranging appeal of her talent has taken her on a musical odyssey around the world. She is equally at home charming a supper club in New York, exciting an audience at Ronnie Scott's Club in London, delighting crowds in a Paris jazz cellar with her funky latin-jazz explosions, appearing in concert with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and performing at jazz festivals in Australia and New Zealand. She has also appeared as the featured artist at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel's Cine Grill Supper Club and the Jazz Bakery in Los Angeles.

Pamela has performed her latest work, Thirteen Kinds of Desire at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater in New York, The Chicago Humanities Festival, and Princeton University featuring pianist Helen Sung.

She has performed several times on jazz broadcasts for BBC Radio London, ABC Radio Sydney and has been the featured artist with Radio New Zealand, with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.

Pamela's first two self-produced CD's Love Dance and Boite de Jazz have received rave reviews which place her in the mainstream of today's outstanding jazz vocalists.

Her latest CD, Thirteen Kinds of Desire, is an intimate, provocative, compelling odyssey through song, revised myths and contemporary story telling produced, co-written and sung by Pamela with 13 original compositions set to the lyrics of Pulitzer Prize-Winning Poet Yusef Komunyakaa.

Pamela has established a jazz residency at Pisticci Restaurant in New York City featuring some of New York's finest players including Helio Alvez, Art Hirohara, Tomoko Ono, Takaaki Otomo, Gordon Webster, Noriko Ueda, Kaori Yamada,  Brandi Disterhef, and many more.
